  1. I don't think so. I say this because I don't think higher education is *only* about knowledge learned in courses. MOOCs, as yet, do not provide enough of the social interaction and socialization into professional life that a good college education provides. The potential of MOOCs for lifelong learning is enormous, as professionals seeking lifelong learning can benefit from them (e.g. http://moocnewsandreviews.com/5-reasons-teachers-should-dip-into-moocs-for-professional-development-2/). But for undergraduates, I think there is a lot to gain from face-to-face interaction. Besides, the pedagogical potential of MOOCs is yet to come!

I'm not even convinced MOOCs will replace current online learning strategies as credit granting opportunities, nevermind residential education. To date, MOOCs have only shown they are good at knowledge transfer. When MOOCs demonstrate that they also teach communication/interaction skills, problem solving, critical thinking, and teamwork then there may be a discussion to be had about them supplanting current online and face-to-face learning experiences.
